How I “Skin Cycle” with Pomifera for my over 50 skin!

Pomifera Skincare

Have you heard of the term “skin cycling”?

This term was coined by dermatologist Whitney Bowe, MD but dermatologists have been recommending intermittent or alternating active ingredients for a very long time. Skin cycling is the practice of regularly switching up your skin care routine to keep your skin looking and feeling healthy.

𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙊𝙣𝙚-𝙀𝙭𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙚 . Exfoliation removes the dead skin cells and leaves your skin ready for serums and moisturizer. Word of advice though: exfoliation if overused can cause excessive redness and irritation. Go very gently with physical exfoliants and start with less time on chemical exfoliants, you can build up gradually. Turning back time on your skin is like diet mentality. The slow road is the best road to making long term changes. These are the exfoliants I have used, you may use a different product or choose one your esthetician recommends. Clarify(chemical exfoliant) by Pomifera, this is my all-time favorite this far. Restore (physical exfoliant) by Pomifera Cure Aqua Gentle Exfoliator

𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙏𝙬𝙤 𝙍𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙞𝙙𝙨-These are Vitamin A derivatives and the most powerful in anti-aging benefits. You can go from a prescription Tretinoin to over the counter retinols. Before use, cleanse and gently dry the face. Retinoids can cause irritation when first using them so go easy to let your skin build up a tolerance. Retinoid product I am using presently is the A313 Vit A Pommade by French Pharmacy. This to me feels like the Tretinoin I used in my twenties. It takes time to let the skin adjust, use a small amount to start on very hydrated skin.

𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙏𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝘼𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙭𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 Antioxidant serums help protect the skin’s surface from uv radiation, cigarette smoke and pollution along with their powerful anti-aging benefits. I am using the Brighten Vit C serum and Pomifera Rose Anti-Aging serum by Pomifera.

𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 4 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮-This night gives your skin a chance to heal. Hydration is the key in this step. For extra hydration on this night I am using the CosRX Snail Mucin 96% Power Repairing Essence, Pomifera Rose Oil and finishing it all off with the Nourish moisturizer by Pomifera. It is an absolute must to use daily sunscreen when skin cycling or using any serums especially retinoids. If you find a daily sunscreen you love that feels like skincare you won’t think twice about wearing it daily. If you are still looking for a sunscreen; give the Beauty by Joseon SPF 50 a try, it’s Korean and full of probiotics and rice extract. I’ve doing this for about a month now, I definitely am seeing a reduction in my hyperpigmentation. I have had some purging, a couple small pimples and some redness has happened but I am sticking with it in hopes of big changes in my skin especially hyperpigmentation. Have you tried skin cycling? I’d be interested in knowing your thoughts. If you have any questions on the products I am using, please message me or put them in the comments.
