Eat Your Way to Gorgeous Skin!
Three years ago now, I became a Seint artist. Viewing my skin under a hi-def camera and going live, I realized just how unhealthy my skin truly was.
I had a facial given to me for my 50th birthday and the esthetician spent extra time removing milia I had had for years. She said my skin was extremely dehydrated and I needed to wear sunscreen daily not just when I was outside.
Dark circles, hyperpigmentation, milia, melasma; I was a mess. There was a lot of damage I needed my makeup to cover and I hate the feel of feel of a mask of makeup.
A New Mission for Healthy Skin
So I went on a mission to find better skincare for my skin. Yes, the esthetician gave me lots of helpful advice but I kept seeing this woman on social media, my age with the most glowing skin and she talked about Pomifera oil being the secret to her glowing skin…without makeup!
And this began my journey into Pomifera skincare.
However, there is a lot more to healthy skin than just what you are putting on it. After consulting with my esthetician and a dermatologist these are the tips, I would recommend considering in your skin journey.
Diet
Your diet plays a significant role in your skin’s health. Incorporate foods rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, such as fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish can help maintain your skin’s natural moisture.
Increase your protein intake! If your skin is dull and showing signs of premature aging, you are most likely not eating enough protein. 20-30 grams of protein per meal, healthy fats and again a variety of plants will give your gut and skin a range of nutrition.
If you are anything like me, I try to keep a healthy diet but it’s darn near impossible to get all the nutrients we need in the form of our diets.
I am not an esthetician or dermatologist, but I am invested in learning ways to keep our skin healthy for a lifetime, and I am a nutrition junkie whose spent a lot of my continuing education in this field.
Supplements
Your skin is the last place to gain the benefits of our food after feeding your other organs. And if we are honest, most of us don’t maintain a perfectly “clean” diet. The gut is the area that usually needs an overhaul.
An imbalance in our gut bacteria from the foods we eat can affect our hormones, immunity, and stress too can affect the skin.
Consider a good probiotic, collagen boosters, antioxidants, omegas and Vitamin A, D and E.
This is where good quality supplementation comes along with a pro-biotic. I take the Shaklee Vitallizer Gold vitamin packs that supports heart, joint, immune, bone and digestive health. They are easy on the go vitamin strips that give you all the support your diet needs.
