Riman Skincare

As a beauty advisor specializing in women with mature skin, I can’t stress enough the importance of sunscreen in our daily routines.

If you are like me, you see what the sun has done to our mature skin from not protecting it when we were younger. Since we can’t turn back time, we have to make better decisions moving forward to prevent further damage to the skin.

The most important thing you can do for your skin is sun protection.

Sunscreen is not just a seasonal product; it’s a year-round necessity. While other skincare products like retinoids, Vitamin C, and peptides are helpful for maintaining firm and youthful skin; they can’t protect against the damaging effects of UV radiation.

Neglecting sun protection can undo all the good work your other skincare products are doing, leading to premature aging, dark spots, and even skin cancer.

Understanding UV Rays

UV rays are of two main types: UVA and UVB. UVA rays penetrate deeply into the skin, causing long-term damage like wrinkles and age spots. UVB rays affect the surface of the skin, leading to sunburn and contributing to skin cancer. A broad-spectrum sunscreen protects against both types, making it essential for comprehensive skin care.

Choosing the Right Sunscreen

I’ve used many sunscreens as my makeup primer over the years and I prefer an easily absorbed, no-white cast sunscreen that feels lightweight.

When selecting a sunscreen, look for:

  • Broad-Spectrum Protection: Shields against both UVA and UVB rays.

  • SPF 30 or Higher: Offers adequate protection for daily use.

  • Water Resistance: Important if you’ll be sweating or swimming.

How to Apply Sunscreen

For maximum effectiveness, apply 2 finger lengths of facial sunscreen as the last step in your morning skincare routine. Use it at least 20 minutes before sun exposure to allow it to absorb fully.

Don’t forget commonly missed areas like the ears, neck, and hands. Reapply every two hours, especially if you’re outdoors. Sunscreen should be applied daily, even in cloudy or cool days as UV rays can penetrate the clouds.

My Recommendation: Riman’s Incellderm Aqua Protection Sunscreen

I recently discovered Riman’s Incellderm Aqua Protection Sunscreen and it’s been a game-changer. This lightweight formula provides SPF 50+ protection while nourishing the skin. It’s perfect for daily use, whether worn alone or as a primer under makeup. Its moisturizing properties make it an excellent choice for mature skin, ensuring you stay protected without feeling greasy or heavy.

This sunscreen has 3 NATURAL plant ingredients that help with inflammation, firmness, hydration while preventing hyperpigmentation. First, birch sap helps to reduce inflammation and soothe the skin. The 8-layer hyaluronic acid complex helps to hydrate, smooth and firm the deepest layers of your skin. The Luisant Mela is a brightening agent to help with skin radiance and lighter hyperpigmentation.
