Are you struggling with winter skin and it’s not even winter yet?
Welcome to the cozy, frost-kissed season of winter! As we wrap ourselves in warm layers and sip on hot cocoa, our skin calls for a bit of extra love and care. Topping our list of winter skin saviors is the Seint moisturizer Creme, an essential for keeping your skin hydrated and supple during the colder months.
Winter Skin Issues!
The skin is our largest organ and heat is very drying, whether it’s the air we breathe or the hot water we put on our faces. Low humidity levels begin to break down the skin’s natural moisture barrier which can lead to dry, itchy, cracking and flaking skin. To combat winter skin woes and keep your skin healthy and hydrated, consider the following tips.
Hydration from the Inside Out
First begin by hydrating from the inside out. It’s important even in the winter to drink your weight in water or focus on eight glasses of water a day. Incorporate foods rich in essential fatty acids, such as salmon, avocados, and nuts, into your diet. These can help nourish your skin from within.
External Hydration – Seint Moisturizer (Creme)
If you have only been using a lightweight moisturizer all summer long, now is the time to boost hydration in your skincare. Adding in hydrating serums, facial oils, masks and heavier moisturizers will have your skin.
Serums have smaller molecules that go deeper into the skin, which will really plump your skin up. Hyaluronic acid, glycerin products and snail’s mucin are wonderful hydrating serums. Apply serums before your moisturizer for added moisture retention.
Invest in a rich, emollient moisturizer to lock in moisture at night. Seint Creme moisturizer contains 16% natural milk components and moisturizes the driest of skin, leaving you with a youthful glow. Seint contains an abundance of natural milk components that flood the skin with moisture leaving you with a more youthful glow.
With its combination of alpha-hydroxy lactic acid and vitamins A & E, it gently helps exfoliate the dull surface cells of the skin to reveal a smoother and more radiant looking complexion. This helps promote clarity, radiance, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Creme contains an assortment of rich oils to leave your skin hydrated and beautifully glowing.
Gentle Cleanser and Cool Water
Next, let’s talk about facial cleansing. While it’s important to remove dirt, makeup and impurities; your skin will appreciate a cleanser that is gentle during these drier months. Invest in a rich, emollient moisturizer to lock in moisture. Look for products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or ceramides for extra hydration.
I personally use a gentle cleanser with sea-kelp to naturally condition the skin and dispense high concentrations of vitamins and minerals. Look for skincare products labeled “fragrance-free” or “hypoallergenic” to minimize the risk of irritation. Avoid products with harsh ingredients like alcohol, which can further dry out your skin.
It’s important to rinse off your cleanser with cool water. Hot water can strip the skin of its natural oils leaving your skintight. Hot water can be drying to the skin. Opt for lukewarm water when bathing or showering and try to limit the duration of your baths or showers.
Consider adding some moisture to the air you breathe at night. Dermatologists recommend adding a humidifier by your bed to help add moisture. Your skin and your sinuses will benefit from it. Adding moisture to the air in your home with a humidifier can help combat the dryness caused by indoor heating. Aim to maintain a humidity level of around 30-50%.
Exfoliation is Important but Only Once a Week
As skin cells dehydrate in the winter, you’ll want to exfoliate your skin once a week to slough off those dry, dead skin cells! Choose a gentle chemical exfoliant or if you use a physical exfoliant; be sure to massage it gently over your skin. My favorite chemical exfoliant that is effective yet doesn’t feel like it’s burning your skin off is Clarify, by Pomifera. This exfoliating serum uses three hydroxy acids to address a wide range of skin concerns. Your skin will feel softer, smoother and more hydrated with minimal irritation.
And let’s not forget to exfoliate the lips! This helps remove dead skin cells improving the texture of your lips and provides a smooth canvas for your lipstick. A soft toothbrush gently brushed over the lips or a lip scrub once a week can help your lips look and feel better. After exfoliating, use a hydrating lip salve or a lip conditioner to heal this thin area.
