Seint Lip and Cheek Swatches (Lip Care 101)

Seint Lip and Cheek

Our lips are a focal point on our face and an essential part of our overall appearance. As we age, the delicate skin of our lips requires special care and attention to maintain their youthful and vibrant look…. enter Seint Lip and Cheek Swatches. In this article, we’ll explore simple yet effective tips to ensure your lips remain healthy, hydrated, and beautiful, regardless of the passing years.

Stay Hydrated

One of the primary reasons lips start showing signs of aging is dehydration. Just like the rest of your skin, your lips need proper hydration to maintain their elasticity and plumpness. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your lips moisturized from within. However, if you take any medication that dries your mouth then you will most likely have dry lips too. You can also apply a hydrating lip balm or lip oil that contains ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerin to lock in moisture.

Exfoliate Regularly

Exfoliation is crucial to remove dead skin cells that can make your lips appear dull and dry. As we age, the cell turnover rate decreases, leading to a buildup of dead skin. Gently exfoliate your lips with a soft scrub or a homemade mixture of sugar, coconut oil and honey once or twice a week. I recommend doing this at bedtime and then slugging your lips to get an overnight surge of hydration. I like the Pomifera Salve or Seint Lip Conditioner on my dry lips then seal it in with CeraVa Healing Ointment on top.

Sun Protection

UV rays are a major contributor to premature aging, and our lips are particularly susceptible to their damaging effects. Take it from this dental hygienist who has seen lots of precancerous lesions on the lips. Lips have less melanin, making them more prone to sunburn and sun damage. Invest in a lip balm with SPF to shield your lips from harmful UV rays. Don’t forget to reapply throughout the day, especially if you’re spending time outdoors. Check out SPF lip balms from SuperGoop and Sun Bum, I have used both brands over the years and have found them very effective.

Stay Away from Harmful Habits

Certain habits can accelerate the aging process of your lips. Smoking, for instance, not only stains the lips but also reduces blood flow, leading to premature wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth. Similarly, excessive drinking can dehydrate your body, including your lips. Avoid these habits to keep your lips looking youthful. Also be aware that some toothpastes can be irritating to your lips and mucosa in your mouth. If you notice after brushing your lips burn, then search for a toothpaste without SLS such as Biotene.

Hydrate from Within

Healthy lips start with a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients. Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon and flaxseeds, promote skin health and prevent dryness. Incorporate fruits and vegetables that are high in vitamins A, C, and E to support collagen production and protect against environmental damage.

Red Lips Can Make You Look Younger?

Do you know a red lip could make you look younger? Scientists have found that red lipstick could increase facial contrast between facial features and the surrounding skin, therefore making you look younger!

So grab yourself a classic red and wear it proudly. Isn’t being fifty+ give us license to live with courage and gusto! Do it!

For the absolute best red lip look, consider a lip liner first. It will help prevent the color from bleeding. And press it on the lips with a lip brush for the best application. Then press the lips together to blend!

And while you are feeling all glam, grab a gold shimmer too and touch the high points of your face and the center of your eye and lower lip while you are at it!

If you tend to stick in the neutral shades consider adding that red and watch everyone around you start complimenting you on how incredibly good you look!

In Need of Fuller Looking Lips?

  1. Start with exfoliation:
As mentioned above, exfoliation will help slough off the dead skin. This will reveal the fresh, vibrant skin underneath and help your lip products go on more smoothly.

  2. Hydrate and Prime:
Since Mature skin tends to be drier, it’s important to keep your lips well-hydrated. Apply a moisturizing lip balm or lip primer before you start applying your lipstick. I do this at the beginning of my makeup prep so it has time to saturate the lips. Seint Lip Conditioner is part of our skincare line and filled with hydrating ingredients such as coconut oil, beeswax, and honey. Your lips will protected, softened and hydrated with regular use of this lip conditioner. It packs a flavorful punch in Cherry, Vanilla or Peppermint my favorite.

  3. Use a Lip Liner:
Lip liners can help prevent feathering or bleeding of the lipstick, which can be more noticeable on mature skin. Choose a lip liner that matches your natural lip color and line just outside your natural lip line. STOP before getting all the way to the corners. The Suede Lip liner by Seint is the perfect nude for light-medium skin gals. You can use your contour. If you have deeper skin tones then try the contour you use such as Indigo or Cola.

  4. Choose colors that make you feel confident:
Neutral shades, rosy pinks, and soft corals tend to be flattering on mature skin. However, don’t be afraid of color. Color adds vitality back to our skin which we lose with age. So try a bold red or bright pink if you never have before. See Seint Lip and Cheek swatches below.

  5. Less is More:
Avoid applying thick layers of lipstick, as this can emphasize lip lines. Apply a thin matte layer, blot with a tissue, and then apply another thin layer. This will have great staying power on your lips.

  6. Finish with a balm or gloss:
Look for lip products containing ingredients like antioxidants (such as vitamin E and C), shea butter, jojoba oil, and coconut oil. These ingredients provide essential nutrients and lock in moisture to prevent dryness and promote lip health.

A subtle gloss can help create the illusion of volume that is often lost as we age. In this image I used Plum (satin) lip and cheek with Grape (gloss) on top.

If you are new to Seint, you may be unfamiliar with a lip product being multipurposed. Seint lip and cheek colors are meant to be placed on the lips and cheeks but depending on the shade can also be used as color correctors and eyeshadows. The satin color Frenchie for example is an excellent dark circle color corrector and Sandstone is a favorite in mine aided as eyeshadow.

Seint lip and cheek colors come in satin, semi-gloss and gloss. I personally like to use a satin on my lips first then top it with a gloss as I described above. Here are some of my favorite Seint lip and cheek swatches; Sandstone, Madrid and Pink Grapefruit are my go-to’s.
